Benitez aiming for winning mentality

The 44-year-old former Valencia coach was eager to see his side claim his first victory in the 2-1 success at Wrexham and wants the momentum gained from that clash to continue when the Reds take to the field against Celtic tonight.

Benitez said: "I was urging the team to fight until the end against Wrexham last week because I always want the team to win, even if it's a friendly game. No matter what the match, to win is always better.

"I have a clear mind on this. Okay, if you win, you don't always see the problems. Sometimes you learn more when you can see where things are going wrong.

"But I never like to see things which are bad in my team on the pitch because if I don't, it means we're winning. In football, it's always important to win to stop the pressure building on the team."
