Liverpool reduced Everton's lead to four points after a well deserved derby victory and Rafael Benitez now believes the momentum is with his side in the chase for that final Champions League spot.

Benitez said: "I would like to see us play like that in every game because we played fantastic. We played at a high tempo with good passing, good pressure and scored two good goals.

"We then lost three players and four if you include Luis Garcia who was injured but wanted to play the second half.

"We had two great chances with Baros who ran clear but I am happy with this win. We played better than Everton and I am confident we will finish fourth.

"It was great to celebrate with the fans at the end of the match because I wanted to say thank you to them. They were fantastic and it's important to show them how much it meant."
