"You have seen against Charlton that they had many chances so yes they can play together," he said. "Even though neither player scored a goal, the performances by Milan and Djibril yesterday has proved they can play well together despite what many of our critics think.

"They both did very well. Cisse was moved onto the right in the second half and he had a good game, and Baros looked sharp all game.

"You can see now that they do have the ability to form a partnership, they both did very well and can only improve as a pair as the season continues.

"Yesterday the strikers were not a problem. Riise had two opportunities with his right foot, Garcia, Baros, all the players, we created lots of chances.

"We played well against Deportivo, the second half against Fulham and in some home games. Yesterday we had many opportunites and we played well but you do need to score more goals if you have those clear opportunities.

"Against Depor we played very well in the first half and it was like that today. We had clear chances, but when you play well you need to score because when you have those kind of opportunities and don't score there's always the risk that you can make a mistake in the second half that can cost you the points."
