"I think that we have played a good game," he said after the match. "We started with a high tempo, had many chances and played good counter attack with the goal and had good chances at the end of the game."

Some may have doubted the manager's decision to play Igor Biscan for the injured Xabi Alonso, but he proved the critics wrong with an excellent display in midfield.

"Igor played well," added Benitez. "It is important to have all the players ready because if you have a good squad you can play to a higher level.

"The only thing that we have to do now is to enjoy the result today and after to think about winning the next game, and no more."
