The Reds below par start to the domestic season has so far failed to affect their European campaign, but yesterday's result has put the team on the brink of the second round.

Reds boss, Rafa Benitez, said, "The way the group is working out, this was a very important game to win. We will take nothing for granted now with two home games coming next."

"I am obviously happy with the final score, it was a good team performance, something we have needed. To win away and to keep a clean sheet was very important.

"I have much praise for all the players, not just a few. We took our chance well but could not get the second despite having opportunities.

"It was difficult for the midfield, against a team who attack and work hard. But they had to work hard, Sissoko was a great addition to midfield when he came on," Benitez concluded.
