Liverpool Chief Executive Rick Parry has drawn up a short list of names to succeed Gerard Houllier when he leaves the club next week. Top of the list is Rafael Benitez with Alan Curbishley.
Benitez is one of the most highly rated young coaches in the game having twice beaten Real Madrid and Barcelona to lift La Liga.
Curbishley may be approached if the board feel that Benitez' lack of english counts against him.
