Benitez wants to see improvement

Last season Liverpool lost the corresponding fixture 2-0 and played poorly throughout. Benitez described it as the worst performance of the season. This time around the Reds boss is demanding a massive improvement from his side.

Benitez said: "I don't have happy memories of that game. Everton had lost 1-0 to Chelsea and we wanted to win and reduce the gap to them. We didn't do that and I was very disappointed by the performance that day.

"This season we have a better team, a stronger squad and we are confident that we can go to Birmingham and get a good result. We know people are talking about the fact that we don't score goals and don't concede goals, but we will start scoring goals soon.

"In pre-season we scored 25 goals but we conceded goals as well. I am sure it is only a matter of time before we start scoring goals as we have good strikers.

"We know we need to start winning games but we have confidence and we have a strong team with a clear idea of winning."
