Liverpool have won gained four points from their opening two games and have played some nice football to go with it. However, Rafa the Gaffer believes his side can still improve, especially defensively.
Benitez said: "We are creating plenty of attacking opportunities, but we are having problems in defence.
"We need to change the mentality and we need to have more confidence in ourselves because we can play better.
"I'm happy with the team but we do need to improve our level. I like my teams to control every situation in a game but in the games so far we have been in trouble sometimes and we need to work harder.
"We need to change the mentality. We need to have confidence in ourselves. If we play well in attack and score lots of goals great, but it is important we defend well and stop other teams getting into our box. At the moment we are giving them more opportunities than I would like.
"The team is doing well but we need to get the balance right between defence and attack. We can improve a lot more in our defensive work but it takes time.
"In time you can always improve the level of the team. Attack is different because it is based more on talent whereas in defence you need more intelligence and hard work. We have a good squad but we need more time because we can always improve."
