Birmingham want Diao

The Senegalese midfielder has been a bit part in Rafael Benitez's squad this season and has been in talks with Aston Villa about a possible move during the transfer window.

But a late night telephone call with Steve Bruce has convinced Diao to join The Blues instead.

A formal announcement is expected later today and the player will be available for Saturday's game with Fulham.
