Biscan ready to take his chance

Biscan has struggled to live up to the expectations placed upon him when Liverpool beat off the likes of A.C Milan and Barcelona to sign him for what seemed to be a bargain fee of £5.5m in December 2000. In recent weeks, though, Biscan has won over Gerard Houllier with a number of fine displays as a centre-back in the reserves. An assured performance as a 4th minute substitute at Old Trafford has given the Croatian hope over his Anfield future.

Biscan told the club's official website: "I've been in the squad over recent weeks and it was good to play against Man United, even though we were all very upset with the result.

"It was an occasion I will remember for the rest of my life but the result left us all with a bitter feeling of disappointment.

"Being involved gives me the motivation to keep going here and to keep working hard. I'd have been more happy if I'd played more games this season, but that's only normal.

"There may be more chances to come for me before the end of the season and I am ready for the challenges. It is up to the manager to decide whether I'm going to play in the team or not."
