Biscan staying

Biscan had been linked with a move to Southampton after falling out of favour since the derby. However, the Croation international has since pledged his commitment to the Reds and will remain at Anfield, at least until the end of the season.

With Xabi Alonso out injured for the next three months Rafael Benitez says he is glad Biscan is to remain a Red.

He said: "Some clubs have talked to us about Igor Biscan but he has decided to stay here. I spoke with him and he told me he wants to stay.
 
"I am happy with that decision and I can tell you he will not be leaving here.
 
"The injury to Alonso means we have to work harder with the midfielders we have and Igor is one of those. It is important that Gerrard, Hamann, Biscan and Diao all work hard and do well."
