Biscan's the man

Bought for £5.5million from Croatia Zagreb in December 2000, Biscan has found life tough at Anfield.

But several appearances at centre back last season, instead of his chosen position in midfield, impressed the boss.

He did well again in defence against Cologne on Wednesday night and is now likely to start the season as back-up for Henchoz and Sami Hyypia.

"I like him in this position," confirmed Houllier. "He is strong, powerful and quick, which are attributes I like.

"He could be good cover in that central defensive role. It will be his position in future."
