"After the Sunderland game we were on the bus and fans were coming up to us and telling us all to keep our chins up because we would come through it.
"There was even a former, very famous Liverpool player who sent a very nice text message to Phil Thompson's mobile. That was good because we don't get much backing from former players. The wolves come out when the flesh is ready.
