Boro win was close to complete performance - Lallana

Adam Lallana fired a warning to Liverpool's Premier League rivals after they returned to form in style with a blistering 3-0 win at Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.

Lallana scored two goals and laid on the other for Divock Origi as Jurgen Klopp's men shrugged off their recent dip in form with a stunning display that had rival boss Aitor Karanka purring.

But the former Southampton star believes his side are capable of further improvement as they head towards Monday night's derby clash with Everton.

Lallana told Liverpool's official website: "It was not too far off the complete performance - but the manager has already quickly said to us that there are things we can improve on.

"At times we can maybe get a little bit carried away and all of us maybe want to attack at times when we need to protect a bit more.

"We trust what the manager says so I'm sure over the next few days we'll have a look at the performance, recover well and get ready for Everton on Monday night."

The visitors' performance was all the more impressive for the continued absence of playmaker Philippe Coutinho, who has been out since injuring his ankle against Sunderland last month.

And Lallana believes his eventual return will give his side even greater hope of hauling back the six-point gap to Premier League leaders Chelsea.

"Any team is going to miss Philippe - he is one of the best players in the world," added Lallana

"We're still learning to play without Philippe. But the sooner we can have him back, the better."
