Gerard Houllier says Michael Owen played a blinder last night despite not finding the net himself.

Owen hit the post during the game which is typical of the lack of luck he is currently experiencing but the manager says he'll soon be back on track.

"Michael made a goal for Emile, hit the post and was always there. Can you imagine how many he would have by now this season with just a little more luck," said Houllier.

"When he finally gets on track this season, he will be something to behold. He got a hat-trick at Manchester City and there's many more to come."
