King Kenny told reporters in his pre-match press conference that Carroll's double strike against Man City on Monday night was just the start.

"It was not of paramount importance he scored," said Dalglish.

"He just needed match practice and it was going to take him a few games to get up to that.

"He scored the other night, but that's not his fitness complete and it's not his career complete either for Liverpool.

"We hope it's just a stepping stone for him to go forward and produce more goals for us. Everybody was delighted for Andy.

"He's integrated into Liverpool Football Club very well and he'll continue to do that.

"Sometimes it takes a little time to settle down but both him and Luis (Suarez) have done very well and done brilliantly. We've been delighted with both of them.

"Within the framework of the team there is always going to be combinations and Andy and Luis are getting to know each other better through every training session.

"The longer they are together the better they will be. That applies to everybody."
