Steven Gerrard's two winning strikes saw Liverpool see off the challenge of Watford with two 1-0 victories. The Reds will now visit the Millenium Stadium on February 27th in an attempt to win their eighth League Cup.

Rafael Benitez is clearly delighted at the opportunity to lead the Reds out in Cardiff: "I am happy to get to my first final." said the boss after the final whistle.

"We have had a lot of problems and a difficult time but we are working hard and now in a cup final. I am happy for the supporters that they have a cup final to attend and hopefully we will have a cup to give them next month.

"We knew how important this game was for us, the supporters and the club. We played really well as a team and we had a strong mentality throughout the match. Steven Gerrard showed again tonight that he is a key player for us and my idea is to build the team around him."
