Boss happy with Fulham win

"The first half was fantastic in terms of tempo and we controlled the best part of that first half," he said after the game. "Then we conceded a goal and got a bit nervous at the beginning of the second half.

"But we continued creating chances. Harry Kewell had a good one, Vladimir Smicer had a good one aswell. Its a good side and we kept believing we could get a result and I'm pleased that we managed to do it. Jerzy Dudek made some good saves aswell.

The Liverpool boss was also impressed with Florent Sinama Pongolle, who won the penalty that gave Liverpool the opportunity to win the game.

"He's a young player - not the finished article by far - but he's quick, got lightening pace about himself and he can score goals," he said. "If he'd not been fouled he would have scored.

"The last four years I think we've been known for our defensive strength and solidity.

"We want to go back to that but at the same time I don't want to compromise with the fact that we've now got players to attack and go forward and build up.

"I think in every game we've played we've had practically had 19 to 20 shots on goal. I want to keep that going but it doesn't go without some risk, particularly at the beginning."
