Boss has faith in his team

With Steven Gerrard suspended, Fernando Morientes cup-tied and Djibril Cisse, Xabi Alonso, Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Neil Mellor injured Liverpool face a difficult task on Tuesday. However, Benitez is confident that the players who do face Leverkusen will get a result.

Benitez said: "Of course it's a problem for us to be without Gerrard and Morientes for the game because they are both very important players for us.
 
"But the game is at Anfield and that means we will have the fans with us. Normally you prefer to play the second game at home, but maybe this time it will work to our advantage because we will need to change the team and bring different players in.
 
"We have been working hard this week to prepare for the game. It's a big match in our season and we want to make sure we play well on the night.
 
"We have a lot of time to get ready for the game because we don't play this weekend. We will do everything we can to make sure the preparations are as good as they could possibly be."
