Biscan impressed when he first came to Liverpool and played in the centre of midfield against Man Utd and Arsenal in his first two full games but since then he has only played about six games in his natural position.
Biscan played most of last season at centre-back where he struggled and lost the confidence of the supporters. However, since being returned to his regular position by Benitez, Biscan has come on in leaps and bounds to the delight of his manager.
Benitez said: "I give players the opportunity to play football and fight for their position in the side. I think Igor is playing well and for me he is better in central midfield than the centre of defence. Igor is strong and works hard in the centre of midfield.
"I am pleased with the way things have gone in America and we are training hard. We played very well in the first match against Celtic and in the second match against Porto we sometimes played well."
