Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier has been speaking about the status of the proposed Anelka transfer.

As reported on KopTalk, the boss is in no rush to sign Anelka and he's fully in control of the whole affair.

"The fee has been settled with Paris and we have also sorted out terms with the player," said Houllier.

"The terms are well below what his agents wanted, in fact they are about half of the amount.

"But I will spend the next week deciding whether to go through with the deal. I need a new striker for next season to replace Robbie Fowler and obviously Anelka is my first option.

"But I want to go away and spend some time thinking about it peacefully and with a clear mind. I want to do the right thing by the club. As a manager that is all you can do. I will make the decision I think is the right one for Liverpool."
