Gerard Houllier still wants to sign Nicolas Anelka despite showing interest in Auxerre striker Djibril Cisse, which indicates that the Liverpool manager isn't confident of landing Cisse this season.
Cisse remains Houllier's top striker target but he's happy to keep a hold of Anelka for back-up if a deal can be agreed.
"He knows we want to keep him, he wants to stay. Hopefully we will find a deal," said the boss.
Kop Talk sources inform us that Anelka has settled well in the city and that he had bonded with several local key figures.
