Boumsong rues Reds rejection

The higly-rated Frenchman completed a shock bosman transfer to Ibrox after talks with former Anfield boss Gerard Houllier began to stall, but Boumsong concedes that he would prefer to showcase his talents in England.

Boumsong said: "I wanted to go to Liverpool because they are a good club - they were my first choice.

"But in the end Gerard Houllier didn't want to make the deal. It was a disappointment but I'm happy to go to Scotland and play for Rangers.

"It is my dream to play in the English Premiership one day."
