Boumsong set to Roux Rangers move

Roux, a close personal friend of Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier, feels that his treasured defender could have chosen from the elite sides of Spain and Italy instead of agreeing to join the relative wilderness of Scottish league football.

Roux said: "Jean-Alain has decided to join Rang-ers? I didn't know that and I certainly didn't expect that. I'm very, very surprised at this because he could play anywhere in Europe.

"It's really none of my business because we can't afford to keep him, but I expected to hear that he was going to Italy or Spain, not Scotland. It's his choice though."
