Leeds United midfielder Lee Bowyer has been speaking about why he decided against joining Liverpool.
Although Gerard Houllier pulled the plug on the proposed transfer (and we're not a PR machine just saying that, he actually did!), Bowyer tries to give the impression that he was in control of the matter.
"I didn't feel it was right for me to go there," said Bowyer.
"It was like I was running away from my problems. Everyone else seemed to be saying I wanted to go, wanted to leave to further my career, but I didn't see it that way.
"I know people would think it was a good move for me and that I would be stupid to turn it down, but it is going to take more for me to leave here.
"I think everything is set up for Leeds to do as well or better, the manager has told us we are going for the title and I would find it hard to leave here without winning something."
