Reports from Yorkshire this evening suggest that Leeds United midfielder Lee Bowyer will sign a new 5-year contract with his club within the next 24 hours.

The talented midfielder has been linked on-and-off with Liverpool for several weeks and Gerard Houllier was believed to be paying close attention to contract negotiations as Bowyer only has one year left to run on his existing deal.

Leeds chief Peter Ridsdale believes everything will fall into place soon. Speaking earlier today he said: "We've had very constructive talks and we are very close to a deal.

"Lee has reaffirmed his desire to stay at Leeds and we are hopeful of reaching an agreement in the near future."
