An 18th minute goal from Salif Diao, his third for the club, gave Liverpool the advantage and Milan Baros, on for the injured Florent Sinama Pongolle extended the lead on 70 minutes then added a third in the dying seconds.

Rafael Benitez had made 10 changes to the side that beat Charlton on Saturday. Despite this, the inexperienced side played well and refused to be intimidated by Millwall's aggressive tackling.
