The former Leicester City man is expected to line up alongside Michael Owen today at St Andrews as Bruce bids to make a proposed £3.5m swoop for the much-maligned player.
Bruce said: "We've targeted certain players and, yes, Heskey is someone we've looked at. You don't have to be Einstein to work out we're after the ideal type who could partner Mikael Forssell."
