Bruce wants to help Villa

"I'm aware that if we beat Liverpool it will help Aston Villa get into Europe," said the former Manchester United man. "I prefer to win and if that helps Villa so be it.

"We need a win as we have slipped down to 10th. Last week we had a great draw with Arsenal and we were seventh.

"Then we had to sit and wait for the other results which meant we dropped to 10th."
