Bruno bidding for knock-out blow

Anything less than three points for the North East side against Southampton at St Mary's tonight would hand Liverpool the fourth and final Champions League spot ahead of the Anfield clash with Sir Bobby Robson's men.

With the potential for a meaningless match now looming large, Bruno Cheyrou has made it clear that Liverpool will be desperate for success in their final game of the season regardless of prior results.

Cheyrou, speaking to the club's official website, said: "Our target is to try to beat them on Saturday no matter what happens to Newcastle at Southampton. Even if we have already qualified for Champions League we just want to beat them mainly to show them we are better than them. We want to finish the season on a high in front of our own fans."
