The goal, Hyypia's first since December and his fourth this season, gives Liverpool a valuable away goal to take into the second leg at Anfield next week.
"To come here and play against a quality team and come off with a 1-0 win is a great result," said the Finnish defender after the game. "I'm happy to but it's going to be a hard game at Anfield.
"We're not yet through and there's another 90 minutes to come but we will do our best."
