Carra calls for cheers not jeers

The bootle-born player believes that the famous Anfield fear-factor is now affecting the men in Red rather than opposition players who are now only too happy to stand before the historic Kop.

Carragher, speaking in the Liverpool Echo, said: "I've been here a long time and I've heard all that before. This is a big club and obviously high standards are expected.

"But it's something which can affect the younger players. I class myself as an experienced player now and I can deal with that, but it does transm it to the younger lads.

They become a bit fearful of making a mistake, take the easy option and rather than going at a man pass it back or go sideways.

"It doesn't help but you have to understand the fans' frustrations as well. It's a two-way thing."
