The vice-captain admits Liverpool aren't playing well and knows the fans will have concerns about the way the season is panning out. However, he is confident all that will be forgotten at 7.45pm tonight when the Reds and Lyon walk out onto the Anfield turf and the fans will do their best to roar Liverpool to victory.

"We are not playing well, the supporters know that, and I'm sure there is going to be a lot of stick flying around before the Lyon game," said Carragher.

"That's part of playing for a big club but I think come kick-off tomorrow night, our supporters will rally around us, as they know we need a confidence boost.

"We will all stick together and there will be a great atmosphere, as there always is at Anfield for these occasions, and I'm sure we will respond to that.

"A few people were writing us off before Sunderland and I'm sure there will be even more now but we've been written off so many times during my career here.

"We always fight back. We are Liverpool, we have always shown great character and I'm sure we will continue to do that to come through this sticky period."
