Carra praises Mellor

Mellor has been tipped to succeed at Anfield by both Ian Rush and John Aldridge who both know a thing or two about scoring goals. And now Jamie Carragher has come out and said Mellor has what it takes to succeed at Liverpool because he's the one who has to try and mark him in training.

Carragher said: "Hopefully Neil will be able to take his goals into the Premiership but you should see the lad in training - his finishing is superb. I'm always having bets with him to see is he can score against my marking.

"He's a good lad to have around the place. I've given him some stick about the trouble he had on loan at West Ham but he's proved he can do it at the highest level now and I was made up for him to score twice against Middlesbrough."

If Mellor can score while being marked by Jamie Carragher no defender in the Premiership should worry him.
