"It's a great tie," said the Reds vice-captain and European appearances record holder.
"It was always going to be a tough one because all of the sides are quality at this stage. We've had some battles with Arsenal over the past few years so we know it will be hard. They are a top side but this is why you want to be in the Champions League and to win it you have to beat these types of teams.
"It will be difficult down there but we've got the second leg at Anfield so hopefully we can get the crowd behind us and manage to get ourselves through. We've shown we can match anyone in Europe and we will go into the tie confident."
