Carra remains positive

Although Liverpool were disappointed to be knocked out of the Carling Cup on Wednesday night there were positives to be taken from the game.

"There were mixed feelings in the dressing room. There was disappointment at going out of the cup but we have to be proud of some of the performances on the night. Some of the young lads did well out there," said Carragher.

"Jack did well playing at the back against Shevchenko and Lucas played in a position that's maybe not normal to him behind the striker and did very well.

"But although we could be proud of performance, in a cup competition the result is what matters and we are out.

"I think that was one of our best performances at Chelsea, especially bearing in mind we were without our two best attacking players in Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.

"We've played Chelsea a few times away from home in the last few years and haven't scored. We didn't score again but the fact we played well with a team that hadn't played together before, we have to take heart from that."
