Carra warns Chelsea

With another famous Anfield night ready to join the likes of Inter Milan 1965, St Ettiene 1977, Barcelona 2001 and Roma 2002, Jamie Carragher believes the fans can make all the difference to the result once again.

"I know a lot of Chelsea's players are big internationals and used to intimidating atmospheres but, believe me, Anfield will be nothing like they have ever experienced before," he said.

"I'm not being funny, but Stamford Bridge for the first leg was nothing compared to how it will be in the return. Just look at how it was against Juventus and Olympiacos earlier in the competition - just awe-inspiring.

"They were special nights, and this will be even more incredible. Anfield is renowned as the most passionate place to go of any ground in Europe, and I think we will get one of the best nights ever.

"It will be up there with the game against St Etienne, which always goes down as the best atmosphere there has ever been at Anfield. These nights, words can't describe them, and this will definitely be the same.

"They're big players, they can play no matter what the conditions, so I am sure that they will not be too badly affected. But it is what the crowd can do for us that will be the key to the tie.

"When the atmosphere is boiling at Anfield, it lifts us so much. You saw what it did against Juventus, it carried us along and blew them away before they knew what was happening. We were 2-0 up before they got into the game.

"Look, I'm a realist. Chelsea were strong favourites when the draw was made, and they are still slight favourites now after the first leg because of the quality they have got. That is why they are 33 points ahead of us in the Premiership.

"But the crowd can make a huge difference. They can make it 50-50 or even turn it in our favour, that's how amazing a European night can be at Anfield."
