Carragher: Bad run is not over

The England defender feels it is too early to say that Liverpool have emerged from their recent slump.

He said: "We have heard all the jokes about us turning the corner so many times that we are lost, so we are not getting too carried away at the moment.

"We need to string five or six good results together before we can say we are out of the bad run. But we knew this was going to be a big week and we knew we had to perform if we wanted to keep our season alive.

"The league has been going badly over the last couple of months but the one plus is that we did enough in that run to keep us in the cups. Now we have reached a cup final and we are all pulling together to do the same in the FA Cup.

"If we get through on Sunday then our whole season looks a lot rosier. Doing well in the cups has given us a lift.

"We know the league is the most important thing but if we can get our form together in the cups that should carry into the league.

"We have all pulled together this week to do that. Last summer everybody was saying we had a good season because we finished second in the league and had reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

"But we won nothing. Things have not gone that great in the last couple of months but we are still involved in three cup competitions and in the final of one.

"Trophies is what it is all about. Chances to play in a cup final don't come along too often."
