"I'd rather he wouldn't come, obviously," admitted Carragher. "What can you do? Liverpool are a big club and if think this is an area which needs improving they will try to improve it. It is up to them.
"There have been a few defenders who have come and left because I've been in their position and there have been bigger names than Steve."
