Carragher: We're all behind Dudek

The England defender, whose seemingly routine header started the catastrophic chain of events, believes Dudek can still be relied upon.

Carragher said:`We are all disappointed for Jerzy, he was distraught in the dressing room afterwards and apologised to us all.

`I think it's hurting the lads even more because he's such a nice fella as well as being a top class goalkeeper.

`Jerzy is a real man in the eyes of everyone in the side. He doesn't look for excuses. Even after the Middlesbrough game when we all felt he had been fouled as he dropped the ball, he was the first one to say it was his fault.'

Carragher added: `I think we should remember how last season he was the best goalkeeper in the Premiership and he's done a lot to sort out our goalkeeping situation after a couple of dodgy years here.

`Things like this are all part of being a goalkeeper, but the players and staff are right behind him. We know we can rely on him in the future and any problems he has now won't last.'
