Carra's here for life

The Bootle born defender has been Liverpool's most consistent performer this season and has been hailed as the best defender in the country by his manager.

Like Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen, Carragher grew up a Blue before seeing the light and becoming a Red. Now that Carra is part of a proper football team he wants to stay here for life.

"When I say life, I mean it. I want to stay here. When I say that, it's not talk, I really mean it," says Carragher.

"I mean I'm not kidding myself, I don't think I'm going to go any higher than Liverpool. If your club's in the Champions League that's the ultimate and obviously you want to win trophies.

"I've been lucky enough to do that here in the past and I want to win bigger trophies now, the Champions League and the Premiership.

"We're not at that level yet but the new manager (Rafael Benitez), if he can bring in a few more players, can get us to that level. I've never even thought about leaving."
