Carra's praise for Spanish lads

Josemi, Luis Garcia and Xabi Alonso all make their first return to Spain since signing for the Mighty Reds tonight and all have been praised by Jamie Carragher.

Carragher said: "I don't want to go overboard on Xabi as we like to keep things humble at the club and praise the team but I do think we've got a special player in Alonso.

"He could get in any team in the league. He is maybe not Graeme Souness just yet, but a lot of people are talking about his passing and saying he's as good a passer as Jan Molby.

"Xabi is only 22, still a kid, and with the experience he's getting he will be outstanding.

"Luis Garcia has given us something that we never had under Gerard Houllier, someone who can unlock the door as well as score goals.

"Luis and Xabi are great footballers but we've got Josemi who is probably the opposite. He is just an animal really, he will tackle and fight all day, so the Spanish lads have brought different styles to the team. We've also got Nunez who still hasn't kicked a ball yet."
