Liverpool have lost Steven Gerrard, Antonio Nunez, Vladimir Smicer, Luis Garcia, Djibril Cisse and Milan Baros to injury this season as well as losing Michael Owen to Real Madrid at the tail end of the transfer window but despite all this bad luck Rafael Benitez has refused to complain which has earned him the respect of all the players.

Carragher said: "It was a brave decision to let Michael go but we got £8 million for him when we might have got nothing.

"You might as well get the money and move on but you didn't see Rafael bleating in the press about how he lost Michael. He's just got on with it. It was the same with the injuries he picked up.

"He has got a lot of respect from the dressing room for that. He hasn't been in the papers moaning about it."
