The Liverpool goalkeeper, on a season long loan at Aston Villa, has been named in the starting line up to face Austria in a friendly tonight.

"We are looking for different things from this game and different personnel," said England boss Steve McClaren.

"Scott Carson has been around the squad for a long time. His performances for Aston Villa have been very good and I have said all along that this is an ideal opportunity for him to experience international football."

Steven Gerrard and Peter Crouch are also in the starting eleven.
