Carson was only a standby player but will be drafted into the 23 man World Cup squad today after third choice goalkeeper Robert Green ruptured his groin in a friendly against Belarus last night.
"Green is almost certainly out. He's got a scan tomorrow and that will confirm it," said England boss Sven Goran Eriksson.
"It's a pity for him - but Scott Carson is a good 'keeper and he showed that today."
