Carson happy despite defeat

Carson said: "When the manager read the team out I was just sitting there and it was a big surprise for me. It was unbelievable to play. I played a couple of games for Leeds but it was a different story to play for Liverpool.

"The defence did superbly and I hardly had anything to do. We were looking for that clean sheet," he added.

Although Jerzy Dudek is expected to return from injury in time for the vital Champions League clash on Wednesday, Carson admitted he would love to play again.

"Obviously I'd love to play in Germany but it is up to the manager. Jerzy could make it but it's the manager's choice," Carson concluded.
