New England manager Steve McClaren says Carson is still part of his plans, he just wants him to get some competitive action with the under 21's side.
"I wanted Darren [Bent], Scott [Carson] and Theo [Walcott] to have the chance to play some competitive under 21's football," said McClaren.
"They are still in my plans. I see the under 21's as a very important stepping stone to the senior team and I will keep a close eye on them this season."
