Carson on his way

The Reds have accepted bids believed to be in the region of £4m for Carson from both Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion. The goalkeeper is in talks with both teams while Blackburn Rovers are also believed to be monitoring the situation.

Although £4m is far from Rafael Benitez's original £10m valuation of Carson it is a significant profit on a player who cost £750,000 in 2005. The Reds also earned £2m when they loaned Carson to Aston Villa last season and will have had a similar amount from Charlton Athletic the year before.
