Celtic Supporters chief calls for Anfield boycott

Rafferty, speaking in his Celtic View column, urged the Scottish club and its fans to boycott any future benefit matches at Anfield.

Rafferty said: "I realise it is within Uefa's guidelines (to give 5% of the capacity), but we have had a good relationship between our two clubs over the years.

"T
estimonial matches from Ron Yeats, to more recently Ronnie Moran, not to mention the Hillsborough Disaster Charity Match at Parkhead.

"I
t would appear they're running scared we will out- sing the Kop. They are prepared to give us more than 10,000 tickets to improve the bank balance of ex-players and coaches, but not in truly competitive games.

"W
e should never go back to play in benefit matches in the future as a matter of principle."

A ranting Rafferty unsurprisingly failed to mention that Celtic have also allocated just 2,700 seats for the Reds away support at Thursday's match at Celtic Park. It must be remembered that the Scottish stadium holds 60,000 fans - compared to less then 45,000 at Anfield.
