City chairman, Stephen Vaughan, said he has high hope that they will land the Reds player come Summer.

"We would have liked to have completed the signing of the Liverpool Reserve goalkeeper Paul Harrison, but it has been difficult to tie up. It looks as though we may have to wait until the close season now," Vuaghan said.

He added: "Ian (Rush) and I are aware of what Paul can do. We have watched him for the last eight years. He is the type of young player we are looking to bring into the club who will stand us in good stead for the future. We will try again in the summer when Paul is out of contract."
